xxx History xxx

A link to the wonderful Canterbury scene (Soft Machine, Caravan, Gong, Henry Cow etc.)! Check out the great Facelift magazine for further information (c/o Phil Howitt, 1 Erlington Avenue, Manchester M16 0FN, England). Early Mother Gong is not the best introduction either to the Canterbury scene or to Gong, but Guy's drumming is excellent as ever. Robot Woman III was recorded years later in Australia.

Guy: "In the summer of 1981, Harry Williamson asked me to drum with Mother Gong at the Glastonbury CND Festival. Two weeks, one festival, one extra gig and one and a half albums later, I realised this was quite an operation. So I was pleased to be invited to continue sharing abilities and resources." (The latter included Gilli's and Harry's home; from the sleeve notes of The Long Hello Volume Four.)
