History
Merseybeaters which initially involved other members. The original
drummer John Morris gathered the new gang and became their road
manager. They had a three-week residency at the Star Club in Hamburg
in Dec. 1963. In 1965 they got a new producer and manager Tony
Stratton-Smith, who suggested the slight name-change from 'Ku' to 'Koo'
(as in Stark). They were placed on the Beatles' brief pre-Christmas
British tour in 1965 along with the Moody Blues. Their second single was
released at about the same time and was a minor hit. Like their
stablemates the Creation they concentrated on the European mainland
in their latter days and the last single was a hit on the Continent. Out of th
is latter-day optimism came their self titled pop-sike album. They had
broken up by the time it was released. "Too lazy to hit the big time",
according to Keith Ellis.
